Collisions = Concussions
Strength In Pain Foundation's Surf Safety Advocacy program raises awareness about preventable surf injuries through surfer concussion prevention and safer lineup etiquette. Every year, countless surfers suffer concussions and other traumatic brain injuries from collisions in crowded lineups — many of which could have been avoided with basic awareness and etiquette.
We support common-sense local solutions — better signage, accountability, and safer lineups for everyone. Our goal is to educate new surfers about lineup etiquette, right-of-way rules, and the real dangers of reckless behavior in the water.
Through partnerships with local surf communities and beach safety organizations, we're working to install educational signage at popular surf breaks, raise awareness on social media, and push for accountability when negligence leads to injury.
Don't be a kook. Know your limits. Respect the lineup.
Surf Safety Advocacy is one of our TBI support programs, alongside our patient advocacy work. If a surf collision left you with a brain injury, our Financial Assistance Program may be able to help cover recovery costs, and the full surfer's concussion guide is free to read online.
